Teheran, 1978. Eight-year-old Marjane dreams of saving the world as a future prophetess. She grows up with progressive parents and a loving grandmother, and closely follows the fall of the Shah’s brutal regime in their company. The establishment of the new Islamic Republic heralds the era of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps who control the behaviour of the population. Based on the autobiographical comic of the same name, the animated feature film received the Special Jury Prize in Cannes in 2007.

The screening will take place in the presence of the film’s co-director and French comics artist Vincent Paronnaud – Winshluss. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the artist, moderated by Igor Prassel.
