KUTIKUTI: HOPE

group exhibition (until 4. 11.)

The DobraVaga Gallery will host the group exhibition Hope, featuring selected works by Kutikuti comics artists. The aim of the exhibition is to use art to provide not only beauty and escapism but also discomfort for the social consciousness. Comic art in particular has the ability to convey powerful messages across cultural barriers. The exhibition is to discover how comics artists engage with contemporary environmental and social issues – from climate change, loss of biodiversity, drought and the relationship between man and nature to women’s and queer social issues. Despite the troubling topics, participating artists wish to empower individuals and communities, and introduce a message of hope and possibility into the current discussion.

Participating artists: Eeva Meltio, Terhi Ekebom, Hanneriina Moisseinen, Sanna Hukkanen, Kati Rapia

As part of the exhibition, visiting artists Kati Rapia and Terhi Ekebom will lead the Local Brushes workshop on Friday, 6 October.

Organisation: Kino Šiška. Supported by FILI – Finnish Literature Exchange.
Free admission.
